Our ESC Experience with Podobri…

Before arriving in Bulgaria, we had no idea what to expect. We knew it would be different from home, but we didn’t realise just how rich and vibrant the experience would be.

From the very beginning, Bulgaria welcomed us with warmth – both from the sun and from the people. We discovered flavors we had never tasted before – spices that gave even the simplest dishes a soul.

What really made our time special was the atmosphere. There’s a calm rhythm to life here that helped us slow down and appreciate the little things – the morning walks, the loud birds, the evening breeze. People were kind, open, and genuinely curious. We often found ourselves invited for a chat, a coffee, or a homemade pastry.

The Podobri Foundation gave us a space to grow and contribute. It felt meaningful to invest our time and energy into something that supports the younger generation. Whether it was through creative projects, small initiatives, or just participating – we felt our presence mattered.

As we return home, we bring back more than memories. We carry the taste of banitsa, the scent of herbs we can’t name, and a deep respect for a culture that welcomed us as one of their own.
